Adding a subscription to SubLedger takes about 30 seconds. You enter four pieces of information and SubLedger immediately folds the charge into your monthly and yearly spend estimates, sets up renewal reminders, and keeps the entry ready to categorize or share.
You don’t need every detail upfront. Start with the name and cost, then add the renewal date later when you have it in front of you.

What you’ll need

Before you start, have the following ready:
  • Name — the service or product name (for example, “Netflix” or “Adobe Creative Cloud”)
  • Cost — the amount you’re charged per billing period
  • Billing cycle — whether the subscription renews monthly or yearly
  • Renewal date — the date of the next upcoming charge

How to add a subscription

1

Open the dashboard

Sign in at app.mysubledger.com and go to your dashboard. You’ll see your current subscription list and a summary of your monthly spend.
2

Click Add subscription

Select Add subscription at the top of your subscription list. A form slides open on the right side of the screen.
3

Enter the subscription name

Type the name of the service in the Name field. Use the name you’ll recognize when scanning your list later — for example, “Spotify” or “AWS”.
4

Enter the cost

Type the amount you’re charged in the Cost field. Enter the amount for one billing period — if you pay $99 per year, enter 99, not a monthly equivalent.
5

Select the billing cycle

Choose Monthly or Yearly from the Billing cycle selector. SubLedger uses this to calculate your monthly and yearly spend summaries correctly.
6

Set the renewal date

Enter the date of your next charge in the Renewal date field. SubLedger uses this date to schedule your renewal reminder and to keep the entry current after each billing cycle.
7

Save the subscription

Click Save. The subscription appears in your list immediately, and your spend estimates update automatically.

What happens next

Once saved, SubLedger:
  • Adds the subscription to your dashboard and spend summary
  • Schedules a renewal reminder email (7 days before the charge, by default — adjustable in your settings)
  • Rolls the renewal date forward automatically after each billing cycle
You can edit any subscription at any time. Click the subscription name in your list to open the detail view, then select Edit.
