Every SubLedger account comes with a unique forwarding address. When you forward a subscription receipt or renewal email to that address, SubLedger reads the email, extracts the key details, and creates a subscription entry on your dashboard for you to review before it’s saved.
Email forwarding is available on all plans, including the free tier. No setup or configuration is required beyond copying your forwarding address.

How it works

  1. You forward a receipt or renewal email to your unique SubLedger address.
  2. SubLedger reads the email and extracts the service name, amount, billing cycle, and renewal date.
  3. A pending subscription card appears on your dashboard for you to review.
  4. You confirm, edit, or reject the entry before it’s added to your subscription list.

Find your forwarding address

1

Open your profile

Sign in at app.mysubledger.com and click your account name or avatar in the top navigation. Select Profile.
2

Copy the address

In the Email Forwarding section, you’ll see your unique forwarding address. Click Copy to copy it to your clipboard.
Save your forwarding address to your email contacts or address book so it’s easy to find the next time you receive a subscription receipt.

Forward a receipt

From your email client, forward any subscription receipt, renewal confirmation, or charge notification to your SubLedger forwarding address. SubLedger works with forwarded emails from all major email clients, including Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, and ProtonMail.
Forward the original receipt email — don’t compose a new message. SubLedger needs the original email content to extract subscription details accurately.

Review pending imports

After SubLedger processes your forwarded email, a pending import card appears at the top of your dashboard. Each card shows the details SubLedger extracted:
  • Service name — the subscription provider
  • Amount — the charge amount
  • Billing cycle — weekly, every 4 weeks, monthly, quarterly, or yearly
  • Renewal date — the next expected charge date
For each pending import, you can:
  • Confirm — accept the details as-is and add the subscription to your list.
  • Edit and confirm — expand the card to adjust any field before confirming.
  • Reject — discard the import if it’s not a subscription you want to track.
Pending imports that aren’t reviewed within 48 hours are automatically confirmed and added to your subscription list. Review them promptly to make sure the details are correct.

Troubleshooting

If a forwarded email can’t be parsed — for example, if it’s an image-only receipt or doesn’t contain recognizable subscription details — SubLedger sends you an email letting you know the import couldn’t be completed. You can always add the subscription manually instead.
