# Track shared costs and reimbursements in SubLedger

> Record the portion of a family plan you actually pay, or flag subscriptions for employer reimbursement so your spend totals stay accurate.

Not every subscription you track is one you pay for entirely yourself. SubLedger lets you record two kinds of shared costs: plans you split with family members, and subscriptions your employer covers. Both approaches keep your spend summary accurate — showing only what you actually pay out of pocket.

## Splitting a plan with family members

If you share a subscription with family members and split the cost, you can record each person's share in SubLedger. This feature is available on the **Family plan**.

<Info>
  The Family plan costs \$20/month and lets you assign subscriptions to family members and track shared costs. [Compare plans](/getting-started/billing/compare-plans) to see if it's right for you.
</Info>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the subscription">
    From your dashboard, click the subscription you want to split — for example, a family streaming plan or a shared cloud storage account.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enable shared cost tracking">
    In the detail panel, toggle on **Shared cost**. A section expands to show family member fields.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Assign family members">
    Add each family member by name and enter their share of the cost. You can enter shares as a fixed amount or as a percentage of the total.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save**. SubLedger records each person's share and shows your net cost — the amount you're personally responsible for — in your spend summary.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Your spend summary always reflects your personal share, not the full plan cost. If you pay $5 of a $15 family plan, SubLedger counts \$5 toward your monthly total.

## Tracking subscriptions for employer reimbursement

If your employer reimburses you for a work-related subscription, you can flag it in SubLedger so it's excluded from your personal out-of-pocket totals. This feature is available on the **Personal plan and above**.

<Info>
  The Personal plan costs \$10/month. Employer reimbursement tracking is included on Personal, Family, and any higher-tier plans. [Compare plans](/getting-started/billing/compare-plans) for details.
</Info>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the subscription">
    From your dashboard, click the subscription your employer covers — for example, a cloud storage plan or a software tool for work.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Mark as reimbursable">
    In the detail panel, toggle on **Employer reimbursement**. Optionally, enter a note to remind yourself of the reimbursement policy or approval status.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save**. The subscription is tagged as reimbursable in your list and is separated from your personal spend in the dashboard summary.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Reimbursable subscriptions still appear in your full subscription list. SubLedger separates them visually and excludes them from your personal out-of-pocket totals — they don't disappear from your view.
</Note>

<Warning>
  SubLedger tracks what you tell it. It doesn't connect to your employer's reimbursement system or verify approval status. Keep your own records for reimbursement claims.
