# Organize subscriptions with categories in SubLedger

> Assign categories like streaming, utilities, or software to your subscriptions so you can see exactly where your recurring spend is going each month.

Categories let you group your subscriptions by type so you can see where your recurring spend is concentrated. Once you assign categories, SubLedger breaks your monthly and yearly totals down by group — making it easy to spot, for example, that you're spending more on software tools than you realized.

## Available categories

SubLedger includes the following built-in categories:

* **Streaming** — video, music, and podcast services
* **Utilities** — internet, phone, electricity, and similar essential services
* **Software** — productivity tools, developer tools, and SaaS apps
* **News & media** — publications, newsletters, and content subscriptions
* **Health & fitness** — gym memberships, wellness apps, and fitness platforms
* **Finance** — budgeting tools, investment platforms, and financial services
* **Gaming** — game subscriptions and online gaming services
* **Other** — anything that doesn't fit the above

* The number of active subscriptions in that category
* Your monthly cost for the group
* Your projected yearly cost for the group
