## Switching to the free plan

Downgrading to Free follows the same process as any other downgrade. Keep in mind that the free tier supports up to 10 subscriptions, and features like employer reimbursement tracking, family assignment, bookkeeper access, and downloadable reports will no longer be available after the switch.

## Switching between monthly and annual billing

You can switch from monthly to annual billing (or vice versa) from the same **Plans & Billing** settings page without changing your plan tier.

* **Monthly to annual:** The annual rate applies at your next renewal date. You'll receive a prorated credit if you switch mid-cycle.
* **Annual to monthly:** The change takes effect when your current annual period ends.

<Tip>
  Annual billing saves approximately 17% across all paid plans. If you're confident you'll use SubLedger for the full year, annual billing is the better value.

## What happens if you exceed your plan's subscription limit

If you downgrade to a plan with a lower subscription limit, subscriptions over the new limit become **read-only**. You can still view them, but you won't be able to edit or add new subscriptions until you're within the limit.

SubLedger keeps your oldest subscriptions active and locks the most recently added ones that exceed the limit. A banner appears on your dashboard and subscriptions page with options to upgrade or manage your list.

<Note>
  Over-limit subscriptions are never deleted automatically. You can regain full access by upgrading your plan or removing subscriptions until you're within the limit.
